Various electromobility projects at Frankfurt Airport have been grouped together under the E-PORT AN umbrella. For some years already we have been gradually replacing vehicles with conventional diesel engines with electrically-powered vehicles. This means lower emissions, less CO2, and cleaner aviation. The federal government has recognized this initiative as a “Lighthouse” (Leuchtturm) project – giving E-PORT AN additional wind in its sails. E-PORT AN project – Video
The name “E-PORT AN” says it all. Our long-term goal is to electrify as many vehicle movements as possible at Frankfurt Airport, which we want to turn into the first E-PORT AN. This is an important contribution to the environment because it’s a mistake to think that there is only flying going on at the airport. A well-functioning partnership is and remains the strongest driving force. The federal state of Hesse is supporting the E-Port An project for a modern, sustainably operated airport. This is something that can only be achieved with the ideas and competences of its project partners – Fraport and the Lufthansa Group. The entire project is part of a range of activities being undertaken in the “Electromobility Model Region” that is creating greater sustainability in Hesse. The partners are contributing their various strengths to the project, and are driving it forward, in accordance with defined milestones.
